The only swine flu patient receiving treatment at the Azerbaijani Lung Diseases Research Institute has been discharged today, Chief Physician Khayyam Mammadov said today.
"The patient was completely cured of the A/H1N1 virus and received treatment for bilateral pneumonia and other complications," he added.
According to Mammadov, the patient has undergone an additional medical examination, after which he was discharged due to positive results.
Presently, the laboratories conduct tests for the virus. There is no new swine flu cases, Deputy Director of the Republican Anti-Plague Station Shahin Gurbanov said today.
So far, Azerbaijan has reported 14 cases of swine flu.
All medical facilities belonging to the Azerbaijani Health Ministry have upped their security due to the swine flu. The ministry has given instructions to medical personnel around the country to take preventive measures in their institutions and check all persons registered at each local clinic. According to the ministry, active measures are taken in children's clinics, schools and kindergartens.
The WHO has donated 300 million doses of a vaccine against the A/H1N1 virus to 90 countries, including Azerbaijan. The first shipment will be delivered to the country in November. Vaccination will be carried out among people at risk group.
