Singapore's Foreign Minister George Yeo and his Tajikistan counterpart Hamrokhon Zarifi have discussed ways to enhance relations between the two countries, including the possibility of organizing high-level contacts and greater bilateral economic cooperation, Xinhua reported.
According to a joint statement issued by the two countries' foreign ministries here on Tuesday, the two ministers stressed the importance of Tajikistan's participation in the Singapore Cooperation Program (SCP), which is administered by the Technical Cooperation Directorate of the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Noting the success of the SCP in helping foster greater mutual understanding and cooperation between the two countries through the sharing of developmental experience, the ministers agreed to step up cooperation under the auspices of the SCP.
The two ministers also exchanged views on key international and regional developments.
The Tajikistan foreign minister made an official visit to Singapore on Dec. 7-8 at the invitation of his Singapore counterpart George Yeo, according to the statement.
