AZAL to construct cargo terminal in Astrakhan

Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC (AZAL) is ready to launch constructing the cargo terminal in Astrakhan airport, Russia's Astrakhan region Vice-Governor Konstantin Markelov said at the Caspian-European Integration Business Club Baku session

"We got acquainted with the Azerbaijani airport's capacities under the freight terms. There are plans to build cargo terminals at the Astrakhan airport. We have the similar arrangements with AZAL. The Azerbaijani Transport Minister approved these plans yesterday," Markelov said

According to Markelov, AZAL will increase the number of the Baku-Astrakhan-Baku flights from twice to three a week in 2010. Airlift capacity in this direction is planned to add capacity freight

Currently, the Baku-Astrakhan-Baku flights are made on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The plane takes off from Baku at 08:00 [local time] on Tuesday, and at 5:00 on Saturday. The cost of one-way ticket is 158 manat, and return tickets 233 manat
