Annulling gas debts is expression of Azerbaijani President’s care for country’s population

Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec.30 / Trend , E.Ismayilov /

Azerbaijani Auditors Chamber head Vahid Novruzov thinks that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's decree to annul population's gas debts is an expression of President's care for the low-income category of population.

"This decree is an expression of President's care for the low-income groups of population," Novruzov said.

He said that annulling gas debts should be positively perceived by the population.

Aliyev decided to annul the population's gas debts worth 327 million manat to Azerigas as of Oct. 1, 2009 to strengthen social protection and regulate natural gas consumption costs.

The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic will receive compensation equal to the debts written off from the 2009 state budget.
