The Kosovo government announced Monday it had chosen the US-Turkish consortium Bechtel&Enka for the country's first superhighway project, dpa reported.
The 141-kilometre four-lane highway, from Kosovo's southern border with Albania to the northern border with Serbia via the capital Pristina, is projected to cost over 500 million euros (700 million dollars). Construction is expected to take three years.
Bechtel&Enka won the bid over competing offers from Austria, Italy, Greece and Turkey. Previously, Bechtel&Enka had built Albania's superhighway leading to Kosovo's southern border.
