Azerbaijani and Turkmen working groups mull issues on TRACECA in Baku

The Azerbaijani and Turkmen working groups under the framework of the Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia (TRACECA) discussed the issues of tariffs, cargo delays and problems in the process of information exchange, as well as increased transport of goods in Baku, Azerbaijani National Secretary in the TRACECA transport corridor Akif Mustafayev said.

"Following the meeting, the sides adopted conclusions and recommendations," he said.

According to him, recently working groups of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan also have held meeting.

Meetings of working groups organized within the framework of the European Commission's "Motorways of the Sea for the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea" project.

The "Motorways of the Sea for the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea" project will develop trade and transport in the Europe - Black Sea region - the Caucasus - Central Asia region through improving interaction of networks and multi-modal transport in the Black and Caspian Seas. Egis BCEOM (France) is a consultant of the project. The project covers two years.

The project covers Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Ukraine.

The specific objective of the project is to promote and support effective intermodal freight transport in line with the concept of "Motorways of the Sea", linking the neighboring countries of the Black and Caspian seas with the territory of the enlarged European Union.

At present the TRACECA member countries are Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Moldova, Romania, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey and Ukraine.
