The last 10 years have been characterized as a qualitatively new period of development of Azerbaijan's tax system, Taxes Minister Fazil Mammadov said.
Azerbaijan saw the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Taxes Ministry on Feb. 11. This is also a day of tax service employees in Azerbaijan.
Perfect and steady tax system has been formed in the country as a result of complex reforms carried out this period last 10 years. Definite actions were taken for economic development. Supplements and changes adopted to improve the Tax Code played a considerable role to make it a perfect legislative base, helped to create a stable tax environment in the country, to lighten tax burden, to decrease tax rates, to apply tax benefits system, Mammadov said. The legislation also includes regulations stimulating freedom of entrepreneurship and defending rights and interests of taxpayers.
"Despite the global financial crisis worldwide and economic recession in many world leading countries, thanks to Azerbaijani president's successful actions, based on flexible and effective mechanisms, our national economy with a leading growth ratio could retain steady and stable trend, which less nations were able to achieve," Mammadov said. High growth ration peculiar to Azerbaijani economy gave a stimulus to development of tax system in the contemporary period and determined new perspectives.
"President Ilham Aliyev's decrees and orders about establishing Azerbaijani medals and awarding of a group of tax service employees and other people these medals on the 10th anniversary testify for trust and support on tax service employees."
Vahid Akhundov, Presidential adviser on economic issues, said the Taxes Ministry has passed short, but a very rich path in its historical development. Though it was short period, but remembered with important achievements from the point-of-view of concrete results of reforms which the ministry were set up and successfully continues presently.
Akhundov conveyed the Azerbaijani president's congratulations to the Ministry's employees.
