In 2009, about 6.7 percent of Azerbaijani GDP fell on agriculture, Azerbaijani Minister of Agriculture Ismet Abbasov's article, posted in the official press.
"In 2009, about 2.9883 million tons of grain, 1.1779 million tons of vegetables, 983,000 tons of potatoes, 721,000 tons of fruit, 411,000 tons of field crops were produced ", Abbasov said.
According to him, the level of grain production in the country increased by 3,2 times, vegetables - in 2,8 times, fruit - in 2,2 times, potato - 6,3 times by 1995. In 2009, Azerbaijan produced agricultural products to the amount of 2.3206 billion manat.
The cost of manufactured goods amounted to 3433.4 million manat or 3.5 percent more than in 2008.
Since 2005 the State Company 'Agorolizing' provided farmers with 9,467 units of agricultural machinery, including 990 grain combines, 2494 tractor, 140 excavators, 5,843 trucks and trailers for agriculture, 46 units of technical equipment, minister said.
