Inflation hits 0.5 percent in Azerbaijan in January

Prices for consumer goods and tariffs for services in January 2010 increased by 1,8 percent compared to the same period in 2009, and in January - to 0.5 percent, the State Committee on Statistics said today.

Groceries have risen in price in January to 0.6 percent by December, non-food products - also at 0.6 percent, and tariffs for services - by 0,1 percent.

Prices for food declined by 1 percent compared to January 2009. Prices for non-food rose by 1.4 percent, while prices for services - by 9,2 percent.

In January, the base consumer price index, calculated apart from goods and services subject to seasonal changes (fruits and vegetables), and prices regulated by the state was 100.3 percent compared to the previous month and 100,4 percent compared to the previous month.
