From March 1, the State Service for Antimonopoly Policy and Protection of Consumers' Rights at the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economic Development will monitor food imported by business entities and check compliance with the labeling rules, the Ministry said on Thursday.
According to the law " Food", products imported to Azerbaijan must have instructions about the use of the goods in Azerbaijani besides other languages.
According to the law "Protection of consumer rights", there must be detailed and accurate information about the manufacturer, the properties of consumption, composition, production time, calories, percentage of harmful substances, product use, methods and rules for safe use of the product, its certification.
Goods in which labels will not meet the requirements of normative and technical documentation, are prohibited for sale. People involved in the sale of such goods will be brought to administrative responsibility.
