AccessBank General Manager Dr. Andrew Pospielovsky was awarded as the Banker of the Year at the presentation of the Azeri Business Awards held in the Buta Palace Feb.20, 2010
"AccessBank increased its maximum loan amount for one borrower to 2 million manat, despite the negative market trends at the beginning of the crisis in 2009. We must underline the fact that AccessBank moved to expand its activity in Azerbaijan, while even the most successful banks throughout the world reduced their activity to the minimum. At the same time, AccessBank was able to keep the quality of the loan portfolio at a high level. Thus, AccessBank, under the management of General Manager Dr. Andrew Pospilovsky, made a significant impact in strengthening Azerbaijan citizens' confidence in the local banking sector, even during a crisis period," the Azeri Business Award's Organizational Committee said
"The bank's success is the result of the hard work of all our staffs. As to what was my individual contribution to the success of the previous year, I would have to say it was that I tried to interfere in the work of our staffs as little as possible. We invested great resources into training and developing our staffs, developing clearly defined procedures and divisions of responsibilities since the establishment of our bank. Today, AccessBank has a strong and highly experienced team of employees who understand their responsibilities. And this is the source of the bank's success," Pospilovsky said
AccessBank is recognized as the most reliable bank among Azerbaijan banks by the international rating agency Fitch (BB+) and is 100% foreign owned by six international financial institutions including the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank, KfW Development Bank of the German Government (20% share each), AccessHolding - a strategic investor in microfinance (16.5%), and a German consulting company LFS Financial Systems GmbH (3.5%).
