Azerbaijani Central Bank (CBA) Chairman Elman Rustamov and Nienke Oomes, head of the IMF mission to Azerbaijan, discussed the CBA's anti-crisis activity, CBA said today.
The meeting discussed the main directions of Azerbaijan's macroeconomic policy. The exchange rate policy pursued by CBA was highly appreciated, as well as the strategy of monetary and financial stability.
Oomes stressed that Azerbaijan has the highest economic growth in the world, underscoring the high flexibility of activities carried out by the CBA in order to preserve macroeconomic and financial stability in the country in 2009.
Rustamov spoke about macroprudential and supervision activities to strengthen financial stability, adjustments of monetary policy in order to provide liquidity in the economy and exchange rate policy of the CBA.
IMF mission is in Baku to hold consultations with the Azerbaijan government from Feb.18 until March 3.
