In 2009 Uzbek insurers increase total amount of investments by 14 percent

Uzbek insurers in 2009 increased the total amount of investments by 14,2 percent compared to 2008 - up to 265.2 billion soums, the Uzbek analytical company SAIPRO said.

According to SAIPRO, the largest share of investments (43.9 percent) were investments in securities. This includes 42.5 percent of total investment amounted to investments in shares of enterprises and banks.

Deposits of insurers in the total investments made up 40,6 percent in 2009. Deposits in commercial banks hits 38.1 percent and 2,5 percent in credit unions.

The rest 15.5 percent of investment falls on share holding in the authorized funds, real estate, loans and other investments. In particular, the share holding in the authorized funds in total investment amounts to 6.6 percent, investments in real estate - 6 percent, loans - 1.7 percent, the share of other investments - 1,2 percent.

The leader in investments in 2009 is the National Export-Import Insurance Company Uzbekinvest, which share amounted to 58.2 percent of total investments.

The first ten companies that are leaders in investments also include "Uzagrosugurta" (4.5 percent), "Transinsurance" (3,8 percent), "Alfa Invest" (3,6 percent), "Kafolat" (2.7 percent), ALSKOM "(1.9 percent), JSC Capital Sugurta (1.8 percent), JSC Agro Invest Sug'urta (1,5 percent), Temir Yullari (1.4 percent), Uzbekinvest Hayot (1.3 percent).

According to SAIPRO analysts, the concentration of the top ten insurance companies in total investment declined by 2.8 percent last year and amounted to 80,7 percent compared to 83.5 percent a year earlier.

The insurance market of Uzbekistan is represented by 29 companies of general insurance, two companies in the field of life insurance, one reinsurance company, three insurance brokers, one actuarial organization and five companies that provide services of insurance assistance.

In 2009, Uzbek insurance companies have increased the collection of premiums for 62.2 percent compared to 2008 - up to 142.7 billion soums. Total premiums increased by 28.4 percent - up 14.4 billion soums.
