Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov signed a decree appointing Akmyrat Mammadov as chairman of the State Statistics Committee.
Mammadov earlier served as deputy economy and development minister. The post was vacant and a deputy served as the interim chairman.
The work of the department needs to improve and meet international standards of accounting, the Turkmen leader noted at several governmental meetings.
