In 2009 the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Germany reached 2 billion euros. Now they implement six joint projects, Germany's Ambassador to Azerbaijan Per Stankina said at the Center for Strategic Studies today.
"Economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Germany is developing very dynamically. Germany has recently become a very important economic partner of Azerbaijan", ambassador said.
German RWE signed the memorandum of understanding with SOCAR in Baku yesterday to develop offshore perspective structure "Nakhchivan". It is a participant of Nabucco gas pipeline project, designed to transport natural gas from Central Asia and the Caspian Sea to European markets.
"Nabucco is a priority for us among all other energy projects", ambassador said.
The construction of the gas pipeline is scheduled for 2011. The first deliveries are planned to be launched in 2014. Maximum capacity of the pipeline will amount to 31 billion cubic meters a year.
