SSPF: Number of people receiving age pensions decreased in Azerbaijan

The number of people receiving age pension decreased by 20,095 people during the first six months of 2010, Azerbaijani State Social Protection Fund Head Salim Muslimov said today.

"Based on the changes to the law" On Pensions ", the retirement age for men and women has been raised for six months and the category of large families has risen to five from Jan.1,"  Muslimov added." The number of people receiving age pension dropped by 20,095 people. If the figure was 858,660 people in early 2010, as of July1 the figure amounted to 838,565 people."

He said the number of people receiving disability pension increased by 3,775 people for the six months. "The figure was equal to 311,850 in early 2010 and it amounted to 315,625 people as of July1," Muslimov said.

During the report period, the number of people receiving a pension as those, who have lost the head of the family, declined by 973 people from 137,925 to 136,951 people.

The number of people receiving retirement pension decreased from 1,308,432 to 1,291,139 which is less by 17,293 people.

"This indicator started to grow since July 1, as men aged 62.5 years and women aged 57.5 years appealed for retirement. Based on our calculations, the number of people receiving retirement pension will increase by 17,000-18,000 by late 2010 and amount to 1,308,500 people," Muslimov said.
