Iran resume gas to Turkey on Sunday

Turkish oil company BOTAŞ expressed readiness to receive gas conduct from Iran Sunday morning, ILNA reported.

The pipeline is being repaired and it is predicted that gas export to Turkey will be resumed on Saturday but lack of Turkish readiness delayed the process to Sunday.

Iran gas export contract signed by BOTAŞ on 1996 where Iran stays committed to deliver 228 milliard square meter gas to Turkey during 23 years time.

Iran has sent 2.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Turkey since late March.

The value of Iran's gas export to Turkey in 2009 was almost $7 bn

A blast blamed on separatist Kurdish rebels hit a pipeline carrying natural gas from Iran to Turkey overnight, forcing the shutdown of the conduit, on August 25.

The explosion in the eastern Ağri province occurred as a result of "an attack by the separatist terrorist organization," Governor Ali Yerlikaya quoted referring to the Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK.
