Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 5 / Trend I. Khalilova /

The Azerbaijani Tariff Council does not consider raising tariffs on passenger service in the Baku Metro, the head of Public Relations department of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economic Development Abbas Aliyev told Trend.

The terminals, automatically loading metro fees, suspended their activity from Feb. 5 due to re-programming of devices, the chief engineer of Baku Metro Elbrus Muradov said.

"The work on re-programming is being held to improve the reliability of devices, to render quality services and to reduce the number of complaints," Muradov said.

These operations are carried out on Saturday, because this day there are few passengers, he explained.

According to decision of the Tariff Council of Azerbaijan, from October 1, 2009 tariffs on passenger service in the Baku Metro were increased three times - from 0.05 to 0.15 manat.

The Baku metro has been functioning since 1967. It has 22 stations.
