The Azerbaijani State Service for Antimonopoly Policy and Consumer Protection under the Azerbaijani Economic Development Ministry is carrying out activities to combat the artificial rise in prices, the ministry said on Monday.

The Azerbaijani State Service for Antimonopoly Policy and Consumer Protection under the Azerbaijani Economic Development Ministry is carrying out activities to combat the artificial rise in prices, the ministry said on Monday.

According to the information, in connection with price rise observed on the eve of the Novruz holiday for a certain number of products the State Service holds monitoring in the consumer market, during which the reasons for the price rise are clarified and relevant activities are taken.

As a result of the taken activities it was managed to achieve price reduction for some goods. In particular, prices for sunflower and corn oil of local production, sugar decreased by 5 percent, price for citrus fruits - by 15-20 percent, the ministry said.

The State Service will continue monitoring.

Administrative measures will be taken towards physical and legal entities - violators of consumer rights.
