Iran's Cabinet of Ministers made a decision to decrease the number of the ministries from 21 to 19, the ILNA agency said.

Based on the information, the number of the ministries was reduced through the merge of the Housing and Town Development Ministry and Roads and Transport Ministry, as well as the merge of the Industry Ministry and Trade Ministry. The Cabinet will determine powers and structure of two new ministries in the coming days.
The Cabinet made such a decision within the five-year development program launched in 2011. Based on the document, the number of the ministries will be reduced to 17.

Earlier, the Iranian parliament passed a bill to merge the National Youth Organization and the Physical Culture Ministry, and create a new Youth and Sports Ministry on their basis. However, the agency has not yet been created.
