Financial corruption cases have cost Iran some $34 billion in a single year, a member of the Iranian parliament quoted a Transparency International report as saying.
Of the figure, $31 billion is related to productivity decrease and $3 billion is related to the decline in foreign investment, Ahmad Tavakkoli said, the Mehr news agency reported.
Meanwhile, Transparency International's 2011 Corruption Perceptions Index shows that Iran has risen from 146th on the list of 183 countries to 120th in Corruption Perception Index 2011, showing a tremendous breakthrough in fighting corruption and advancing the good governance.
