Kazakh national major air carrier Air Astana signed an agreement with Boeing Corporation to purchase four Boeing 767-300ER aircrafts and three aircrafts of Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner brand in Almaty on Saturday, Novosti-Kazakhstan reported.

According to Air Astana, the contract is worth $1.3 billion, and this order is the largest in the Kazakh civil aviation history.

Long-haul Boeing 767 will be delivered to Kazakhstan in 2013-2014, delivery of Boeing 787 is scheduled for 2017-2019.

According to Air Astana board chairman Nurzhan Baydauletov, the company will not attract investments from the government or shareholders and will pay for the aircrafts from its own funds.

Air Astana is Kazakhstan's major airline, which is the country's national carrier. Air Astana is a joint venture of Kazakhstan's National Welfare Fund Samruk-Kazyna (51 percent) and Britain's BAE Systems company (49 percent). Today, the Air Astana airline's aircraft fleet consists of 26 aircrafts. The company plans to increase its fleet up to 43 aircrafts by 2020.
