State-owned company Azersu (water operator of Azerbaijan) liven the work to improve water supply in the villages of Baku, chairman of the company Korkmaz Huseynov said on Monday.

"We are working on the reconstruction of the reservoir +110 Şərq. We are laying main water supply system from there to Bakikhanov village. It will ensure uninterrupted water supply to Bakikhanov village, Sabunchu district and 8 kilometer district of Baku." Huseynov said.
The construction of a new line, which will be connected to the existing pipeline, is being implemented at the moment in Hovsan village. Parallel to this work on the construction of a complex reservoir with a capacity of 20,000 cubic meters at a height of 70 meters above sea level is completing.

"Upon completion of these works water will be supplied without interruption in a large part of the Hovsan," Huseynov said.

Huseynov noted that the company is actively working to improve the situation of water supply in the villages of Baku.

"There are 54 villages and settlements in Baku and Absheron peninsula. There is no drinking water supply system or is working partially in 40 of them. We intend to connect the villages Mardakan, Shuvalan, Gala, Zira, Bean, Turkan, Pirallahi and others to a centralized water supply system and to create in network each," Huseynov said.

He said the construction of 10 reservoirs with a total capacity of 200,000 cubic meters is expected in the village of Baku. The construction has already been started in Balakhani, Muhammad, and Zira.

"During the repair of roads in preparation for the song contest Eurovision-2012, we also replace old water lines with new ones. Employees of Azersu as well as contractors are working almost without interruption to complete this work as soon as possible," Huseynov said.
