Uzbek delegation to attend ‘Republic of Korea - Central Asia’ forum

An Uzbek delegation will attend the sixth meeting of the Cooperation Forum ‘The Republic of Korea - Central Asia’, which will be held in Seoul on July 5, the country’s Foreign Ministry said.

An Uzbek delegation will attend the sixth meeting of the Cooperation Forum 'The Republic of Korea - Central Asia', which will be held in Seoul on July 5, the country's Foreign Ministry said.

'The Forum is being held at foreign ministerial level from member countries. It is expected to discuss issues of further strengthening cooperation in various fields within the forum', the report said.

The main purpose of the event which has been held annually since 2007 is enhancing of cooperation between Korea and Central Asian states in the areas of economy, transport, science, technology and culture. The delegation includes representatives of foreign and trade ministries and business and education from Korea, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

Previous, the fifth session of the forum was held in November 2011 in Tashkent. It was attended by delegations from South Korea and the five countries of the region - Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, headed by deputy foreign ministers.

During the forum, the sides discussed issues of cooperation in science and technology, inter-governmental cooperation in the field of creating e-government, as well as cooperation in sports.
