Grain growers of Uzbekistan gathered in 2012, 7.17 million tons of grain against 6.8 million tonnes in 2011. The average yield of grain in the country amounted to 52 quintals per hectare, and in some advanced economies - more than 80 tons per hectare.
President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov has congratulated farmers of the country with great labor victory.
In his message the President recalled that in the recent past, the republic was dependent on the import of this important product, and had a lot of money to import it from abroad. Therefore, after achieving independence, the country's leadership has identified priority development sectors on a modern basis, abandoning the cotton monoculture.
"Today we can be proud of the fact that in a short period of our country not only achieved grain independence, began to fully meet the needs of the thirty millionth of the population, but also entered into a number of countries that export grain," he said.
Islam Karimov stressed that the basis of these successes are dedicated and fruitful work, the dedication of farmers and farmers, mechanics, knowledge and experience of breeders and scientists, creativity and innovation of agricultural specialists.
He noted that in the domestic grain-formed its own school of agri based on the achievements of modern science and ancient farming culture of the Uzbek people. A solid foundation for today's victory was built efficient operation of complex systems for the mechanization of agriculture, soil reclamation, granting preferential loans to farmers, their timely delivery of fertilizers, quality seeds and lubricants.
The President reminded that excessive moisture due to heavy rainfall this spring has created a risk of rotting the roots of cereals. In order to eliminate it paid special attention to farmers fertilizing crops with organic fertilizers. To do so, had accumulated a total of 10.2 million tons of fertilizer per hectare, and they were made an average of nine tonnes. As a result, in the short term - three months - managed to bring development to the level of crops, which in other circumstances they would have reached in five months.
More than 60 percent of the cultivated crop this year - 4.347 million tons, left at the disposal of farmers and the public.
"This means that farmers barns filled with grain, they receive a good income from their labor, increasing the welfare of their families," said the head of state.
In his opinion, the farmers' movement actually becomes a decisive social force capable of taking responsibility for the development of the village.
The President has assured that continue to focus on the state and society will be a question of further development and full support to farmers, a key to development.
