The career fair held on Oct. 20 was organized within the State Program "Azerbaijani youth in 2011-2015" to provide graduates of foreign universities with different employment opportunities, Azerbaijani Deputy Economic Development Minister Sevinj Hasanova told journalists in Baku on Saturday.
"About 50 companies operating in various sectors, from oil to the financial sector, attended it," she said. "The companies informed the graduates about the recruitment process, as well as familiarized them with the existing vacant positions."
She added that educated people are required to maintain the level of Azerbaijan's economic development. It is important to consider and develop the human capital concept.
"It is also important to attract the graduates to work in the Azerbaijani education sector, which could affect the improvement of the education level in the country," she added.
Moreover, the graduates of foreign universities can use the knowledge obtained abroad in local companies and contribute to the creation of new companies, thanks to the skills acquired abroad.
Azerbaijani Deputy Education Minister Gulu Novruzov said that around 1,800 students were sent to study at foreign universities within the state programs from 2007 to the present period. Around 1,200 of them are studying in these universities.
"Azerbaijani students are studying in more than 200 universities in such countries as Russia, Egypt, Turkey and the European countries," Novruzov said.
