The new management of the Georgian Economy Ministry has appealed to the railroad men in a request to stop striking, candidate for Deputy Economy Minister Dmitry Kumsishvili said today.
He stressed that the new government is closely monitoring the processes taking place in the Georgian railway.
"We ask the railroad men to refrain from strikes as the management is being changed in Georgian Railways," he said. "There are no real decision-makers, but the new management will be appointed soon. It will take the decisions based on the interests of employees and the railway as a whole."
On Wednesday, the railroad men organised a two-hour warning strike. They are demanding an increase in salaries and to improve working conditions.
