"The volume of domestic railway engineering products in the future is planned to increase by 30 times, from 10 billion tenge in 2008 to 300 billion tenge in 2015 ($ 1 - 150 tenge), by fully providing the rail industry with Kazakh rolling stock. Kazakh content will reach 72 percent," Mamin said at a meeting of "Atameken Union" national economic chamber's presidium today.

He said that this year the volume of machinery products will hit 145 billion tenge and local content will be ensured at 69 percent.

He recalled that a new branch of the modern transport engineering was created in Kazakhstan together with such leading manufacturers as General Electric, Alstom, Siemens, Talgo, Transmashholding and others.

Around 13 major railway engineering enterprises were established in the Soviet Union till 1991. Around 12 engineering companies, of which 9 in Kazakhstan were commissioned after 1991 in the CIS.

"Four more domestic enterprises will be commissioned by late 2014.

The rail car casting production with a design capacity of 4,000 carriages per year will be commissioned at "Vostokmashzavod" by December 2012, Kazakhstan Temir Joly head said. The rail car casting production is planned to be commissioned at Parhomenko plant in Karaganda in March 2013 and at Simplex Mash in Temirtau in 2014. Thus, total annual production of rail car casting of 16,500 carriages with 100 percent of Kazakh content will be ensured by 2015.

He said a feasibility study for rail production through Siemens VAE's technology with a capacity of 430,000 tons of products per year, including 200,000 tons of rails is being developed together with "Transport technologies" company. It is planned to be commissioned in December 2014.

He recalled that a memorandum on joint production of diesel engines was signed between General Electric, "Transmashdizel" and Kazakhstan Temir Joly in May this year with a total capacity of 300 units per year.
