MasterCard International payment system will release PayPass bank cards with innovation contactless payment technology to the Azerbaijani market, MasterCard country manager in Azerbaijan Hakan Acar told Trend on Wednesday.
"This card allows to rapidly pay for goods, work, services in the retail and service businesses," he said. "It is enough to apply PayPass card to the contactless reader at the cash desk or the terminal and the purchase will be paid. This technology can be used at any place having MasterCard PayPas logo."
PayPass technology is used in 48 countries and will be new to the Azerbaijani market.
"We want to introduce these cards in the first half of 2013," he said. "We are working closely with the banks in this regard. We have already started to discuss technical details with some of them. These cards are designed for small payments online. They are suitable for using at cinema, fast food outlets, supermarkets, taxi. Many banks are interested in it."
