OPEC: Iran's oil output falls by 37,000 barrels

OPEC's latest monthly report, which was released on June 11, shows that Iran's oil production in May stood at around 2.644 million barrels per day.

The figure is 37,700 barrels less than Iran had the previous month.

The report was based on secondary sources (OPEC Research Center).

In the report, there was no figure registered for primary sources, which means that Iran's oil ministry has not provided the organization with necessary statistics.

However, Iranian officials had reported 3.715 million barrels per day for the country's April production which was 1.033 million barrels more than the secondary sources' reported figure.

Iran's oil output stood at 3.628 million barrels per day in 2011. The amount fell to 2.973 million barrels in 2012.

According to the report, Iran was OPEC's fifth biggest oil producer in May, next to Saudi Arabia (with 9.367 million barrels per day), Iraq (with 3.123 mbpd), Kuwait (with 2.842 mbpd), and the United Arab Emirates (with 2.734 mbpd). It is while Iran was OPEC's second biggest oil producer in May, 2012.

OPEC's total production in May was around 30.567 million barrels per day, which is 105,000 barrels more than it was in April.
