Azerbaijan, Baku, 12 June / Trend A.Akhundov /

The Ministry of Taxes of Azerbaijan has reported a reduction in the number of tax violations by large taxpayers.

"Compared to last year, the number of law violations and tax evasion by the largest taxpayers has tended to reduce. On the contrary, an increase in the number of such violations is being observed amongst small scale taxpayers that pay taxes through a more simplified system," Azerbaijan's Deputy Minister of Taxes Natik Amirov told reporters on Wednesday.

According to him, the ministry has prepared a programme to inform and train taxpayers to prevent the growth of tax violations.

In the first quarter of 2013, the amount of tax payable in Azerbaijan decreased by 7.5 per cent compared with January and by 16.3 per cent as compared to the same period last year.

Debts of 56,815 taxpayers constituting 94.3 per cent of the total number of taxpayers with debt (60,238) were completely liquidated in the first quarter of 2013.

In order to ensure payment of the debts by taxpayers, tax authorities issued 14,791 decisions on the seizure of property during the reporting period. This resulted in 13,613 decisions (92 per cent of the total number of decisions) being withdrawn in connection with the liquidation of debts.
As a result of these measures, payment of 222,500 manat was secured to the state budget in respect of 538 individual debtors who are founders of legal entities.

The official exchange rate on June 12 is 0.7846 AZN / USD.
