The Azerbaijan State Caspian Shipping Company (CASPAR) expects a 15-percent increase in freight volumes in a month, CASPAR head Aydin Bashirov told reporters on Saturday.

According to him, the volume of freight traffic in the first half of 2013 remains at the last year's level and lack of growth is associated with a slight decrease in the volume of oil cargo transportation.

In the first half of 2012, CASPER increased shipments by six per cent compared to the same period last year.

In January-June last year, CASPAR ships transported 6.525 million tons of cargo, of which 4.015 million tons fell on tanker transportation, 2.015 million tons accounted for ferry service and 0.495 million tons - for other vessels.

"However, an increase is projected in transportation of oil cargoes at an early date, which will have a positive impact on the total volume of goods transported by CASPAR," Bashirov said.
