The Uzbek national airline "Uzbekistan Airways" will begin selling international air tickets to the residents of the country for freely convertible currency from July 15, a source in the Uzbek government circles told Trend on Friday.

The Uzbek national airline "Uzbekistan Airways" will begin selling international air tickets to the residents of the country for freely convertible currency from July 15, a source in the Uzbek government circles told Trend on Friday.

According to the source, the Uzbek government adopted a resolution on "Measures on further regulating the implementation of international air services" in late June. According to it, "Uzbekistan Airways" obtained the right to sell international air tickets to residents of the Republic for foreign currency in cases when the point of departure is located on the territory of Uzbekistan.

The Uzbek airline has been selling tickets for freely convertible currency to residents since 2011, if the initial point of departure is located outside Uzbekistan.

According to the new resolution, the Uzbek airline should coordinate a country of destination and the amount of tariffs in foreign currency on international air services with the Uzbek Finance Ministry.

According to the government's regulation, as an exception, the categories of persons who are allowed to purchase Uzbekistan Airways' tickets for international flights from Uzbekistan for the national currency have been set.

Among them are the participants and invalids of 1941-1945 war, invalids of the first and second groups, people disabled from childhood, persons traveling to the funeral of close relatives upon the telegram, those leaving to study at the invitation or through the higher education institutions or business trips, the participants of elimination of the consequences of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.

According to the resolution, the tickets will be sold via international plastic cards and for cash.
Uzbekistan introduced the airline ticket sale procedures since August 2011.

According to it, non-residents must buy tickets in the country only for freely convertible currency.

Uzbekistan Airways NAC is the monopoly air carrier in Uzbekistan, wholly owned by the state. Uzbek airline operates flights to 21 cities in Europe, America, Middle East, Asia and in 22 of the CIS countries and in 11 directions on local airlines.
