New international commercial sea port which will be constructed in Turkmenistan in the Caspian Sea, will play an important role in formation of modern transport infrastructure, which will give opportunity to bring economic and trade cooperation between Asian and European countries to a new level, according to the message posted on official website of Europe-Caucasus-Asia Transport Corridor of (TRACECA) on Wednesday.
According to the message, the new port is considered for a long-term prospect and will open great opportunities for increasing transport flows in Eurasian space.
The time for construction of the new international sea port is 48 months (2017).
International tender was conducted for working-out and implementation of the project. Seven large companies specialized in this sphere attended the tender. Turkish company "Gap Inşaat" became the winner and the general contractor according to the results of the tender.
The project of new international sea port in Turkmenbashi envisages the construction of ferry, passenger and container terminals. The complex will include general loading terminal, bulk cargo terminal, as well as ship repair and construction plant. The total area of the multi-functional port is more than 1.2 million square meters.
The total length of the mooring line will be 3607 meters. In addition to construction of mooring facilities, it is planned to create numerous facilities of coastal infrastructure, which will also include transport service: railroads with elevated interchanges with total length of 2,200 meters and railroads with total length of 5,300 meters.
TRACECA is the international program of cooperation in transport between the EU and its partner-countries in Eastern Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia. The organization has a permanent secretariat in Baku.
TRACECA member-countries are Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Moldova, Romania, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Iran.
