Minister: Inflation in Kazakhstan to stay below eight per cent over next five years

Inflation in Kazakhstan will be between six to eight per cent in 2014-2018, Minister of Economy and Budget Planning of Kazakhstan Yerbolat Dossayev said during a governmental meeting of the country.

Inflation in Kazakhstan will be between six to eight per cent in 2014-2018, Minister of Economy and Budget Planning of Kazakhstan Yerbolat Dossayev said during a governmental meeting of the country.

"The level of annual inflation will be six to eight per cent in 2014-2018," the minister said.

The real economic growth is expected to be six to 7.1 per cent in 2014-2018, while the average growth of domestic demand will be 7.5 per cent during the same period.

"Under the condition of slow recovery of external demand to raw materials, the economic growth during the medium term will be provided through increasing the volume of investments in institutional, innovation and infrastructure projects, beginning with oil refining in the Kashagan field and through the growth of consumption by the population," Dossayev said.

According to him, GDP per capita will amount to $14,600 in 2014 and increase to $24,000 in 2018.

"It is predicted that a nominal GDP will increase from 38.6 trillion tenge in 2014 to 65.9 trillion tenge in 2018. GDP per capita will amount to $14,600 and will increase to $24,000 in 2018," the minister said.
