Products worth $540,000 were exported from Iran to Azerbaijan through portfolio trade in the first five months of this year (year starts on March 21 in Iran), ISNA agency reported citing the director of Astara border city customs, Jahangir Bakhshi as saying.
According to him, in the first five months Iran exported 4920 tons of products to Azerbaijan.
A portfolio trade is being mainly carried out between Iran and Azerbaijan and the majority of the goods are transported to Azerbaijan by tourists, Bakhshi said.
He noted that during this period some 276,890 tourists have used the Astara post.
According to Bakhshi, the goods most frequently exported to Azerbaijan include plastic and glass dishes, ceramics, fruits and vegetables.
He noted that over the past five months some 89,000 tons of non-oil products worth $202 million were transported through Iran to Azerbaijan, Russia, Georgia, Ukraine, Turkey, Iraq and UAE.
Electric equipment, motor cars, chemical products, furniture, cotton and other goods were mainly transported through transit to these countries, Bakhshi said.
