EY's Baku office and Azerbaijan State Economic University (ASEU) have commenced with the eighth year of their financial accounting course for the ASEU Special Talented Group (STG). This semester the course, for second year students of the STG, is led by Nigar Aliyeva and Zaur Abishev, Assurance Managers at the EY Baku office.

The program was worked out in 2006 exclusively for the STG. The main idea of the course was to provide the best students with an opportunity to obtain strong accounting knowledge, a skill-set for their future career and to help them choose the right area to develop professionally.

Nigar Aliyeva, the course instructor comments: "This is a unique opportunity for us to share with students not only our theoretical learning but also insights acquired through our experience in this field, our knowledge of developments of the accounting practice and regulations. We also try to invite guest lecturers working in different industries to share some aspects of practical application of various accounting principles."

"Teaching accounting for the STG is a very effective way of communicating and interacting with the younger generation that is keen on obtaining the base knowledge and practical advice that are so valuable at the start of one's professional career in accountancy and finance," added Zaur Abishev, Assurance Manager at EY.

Annually, we receive great feedback from all the students. A number of last year's graduates have joined Big 4 professional services firms as well as other leading Azerbaijani and international companies.
