Baku, Azerbaijan, Nov. 21
By Elena Kosolapova - Trend: The Ukrainian Grain Association urged the country's authorities to abandon the idea of creating the joint Black Sea grain pool with Russia and Kazakhstan, RIA Novosti new agency reported on Thursday.

The Ukrainian Grain Association head Vladimir Klimenko believes such an organization is futile.

"We think that we should completely abandon the idea of joining Black Sea or whatever another pool with Russia and Kazakhstan. Ukraine is not interested in such pools. There are no new technologies in these countries," Klimenko told Ukrainian news agency UNIAN.

According to Klimenko, the grain crop capacity in Russia and Kazakhstan is less than in Ukraine, so the latter will get no new experience of cooperation with them.

Klimenko said that the Grain Association offered the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry to develop agreements on scientific and technical cooperation with the Ministries of Agriculture of the U.S, Brazil and France, as these countries are the world leaders in the grain production.

"That's where we have something to learn," he said.

The idea of creating the joint grain pool of Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan at the Black Sea appeared in 2009. The initiative has not been implemented so far.

In late September Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov ordered the Economic Development and Trade Ministry, Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry and Infrastructure Ministry to start working on the creation of the Black Sea grain pool. Ukrainian Prime Minister ordered the ministries to hold the consultations on the pool creation with Moscow and Astana.
