Foreign direct investments in Kazakhstan reach record level

The gross inflow of foreign direct investments into Kazakhstan reached a record index of $28.8 billion in 2012, Deputy Chairman of Board of the National Agency for Export and Investment KAZNEX INVEST Kairat Karmanov said at a press conference in Astana today.

"Some $28.8 billion is $2.4 billion more than in 2011," he said.

According to Karmanov, as of the first six months of 2013, the gross inflow of foreign direct investments into the Kazakh manufacturing sector amounted to $1.6 billion, or 5.2 per cent more for the same period of 2011.

"The lion's share of investments was made in the metallurgical industry and fabricated metal products and amounted to $1.3 billion," he added.
