Azerbaijan and Iraq intend to intensify work in the field of higher education diploma recognition, Azerbaijani Deputy Education Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said at a meeting of the bilateral intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, technological, education and agricultural cooperation today.
"Iraq's students are interested in getting an education in Azerbaijan in various specialties, namely, oil, energy, humanities, and medicine," he said. "They face difficulties after returning home."
"These difficulties were caused by the legal peculiarities and problems with the recognition of diplomas of Azerbaijani universities in Iraq," he said.
"This issue has been recently discussed at a level of a bilateral working group," he said. "We agreed to establish permanent contacts in this area with the Iraqi relevant ministries and agencies. I am sure that this work will be effective. All problems will be resolved in the near future."
Iraqi ambassador to Azerbaijan Heydar al-Barrak stressed other features in this area.
"A relatively short visa period, housing, as well as registration in the country are the problems faced by Iraqi students in Azerbaijan," he said.
Al-Barrak expressed hope for resolving these issues in the near future, as well as further developing the cooperation between the two countries in the field of education and science.
