Industrial production slightly decreases in Azerbaijan

The total volume of industrial production which is the volume of production and rendered industrial services in Azerbaijan, amounted to 2.8 billion manats in January 2014, which is 0.2 percent less than the same period of 2013.

The total volume of industrial production which is the volume of production and rendered industrial services in Azerbaijan, amounted to 2.8 billion manats in January 2014, which is 0.2 percent less than the same period of 2013, according to a report by the Azerbaijani State Statistical Committee.

'Industrial production growth in the non-oil sector amounted to 5.6 percent and there was a 5.2 percent decrease in the oil sector during the reporting period', the report said.

The volume of production in the mining industry amounted to two billion manats with a specific weight of 72.7 percent in the whole industrial production during the reporting period which is 4.6 percent less than January 2013.

The volume of oil production amounted to 3.59 million tons, while natural gas production was equal to 1.65 billion cubic meters in January 2014. Oil production decreased 5.1 percent, while gas production increased by 6.7 percent compared to January 2013.

The volume of production in the processing industry amounted to 542.5 million manat with a specific weight of 19.7 percent in January 2014 which is 1.7 percent less than in January 2013. Production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam rose by one percent and water supply, treatment and recycling of waste increased by 7.2 percent compared to the same period of 2013.

The official exchange rate on Feb.18 is 0.7844 AZN/USD.
