Construction materials accounted for 9% of Georgian exports to Azerbaijan in January

Some 15,420 tons of cement to the sum of $1.13 million was exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in January 2014, according to a report posted on the GruzStat website, the National Statistical Service of Georgia said.

The specific weight of this category in the total volume of Georgian exports to Azerbaijan amounted to 3.05 percent in the reporting period, according to the report.

The volume of cement exports from Georgia has decreased by 39.89 percent, or 10,040 tons in a year. By comparison, 25,460 tons of cement worth $1.88 million was exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in January 2013.

In the reporting period, the growth of steel bar exports from Georgia to Azerbaijan was also observed. This means that 3670 tons of steel bars worth $2.36 million were exported to Azerbaijan in January 2014 which is 28.96 percent more than in January 2013. By comparison, Azerbaijan imported 3030 tons of steel bars to the sum of $1.83 million from Georgia in 2012. The specific weight of this category in the total volume of Georgian exports to Azerbaijan amounted to 6.36 percent.

In total, $37.09 million worth of goods was exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in January 2014 and this figure accounted for 16.6 percent of the total volume of the country's exports during the reporting period. The exports to Azerbaijan decreased by 19.5 percent.

By comparison, $46.05 million worth of goods was exported to Azerbaijan in January 2013.
Azerbaijan maintains second position in the list of Georgia's largest trade partners.

Georgia exports vehicles, cattle (live weight), steel bars, cement, mineral water, glass and glass products and medicines to Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan in turn, exports oil and petroleum products, natural gas, trucks and construction materials to Georgia.
