In January, 2014, actual revenues to the state budget of Azerbaijan totalled 1751.7 million manat (40.2 percent of GDP), or 0.9 percent less compared to the same period of last year, the government told Trend on March 6.
State budget expenditures increased by 24.1 percent and amounted to 1726.8 million manat (39.6 percent of GDP). The budget surplus for January, 2014 amounted to 24.9 million manat or 0.6 percent of GDP. It slightly decreased (376.4 million manat) compared to the same period of 2013.
In the structure of revenues, 44.5 percent (780,4 million manat) were ensured by the Ministry of Taxes. Revenues from customs duties and taxes totaled 97.3 million manat (with a weight of 5.6 percent), from other sources - 874 million manat (49.9 percent). Tax collections increased by 4.7 percent, customs charges - by 8.7 percent, however, the revenue from other sources decreased by 6.3 percent compared to January, 2013.
During the reporting period, some 238.7 million manat were received from the collection of VAT, which is 13.6 percent of total income, profit taxes totaled 381.5 million manat (21.8 percent), income tax - 63.7 million manat ( 3.6 percent), excise tax - 74.5 million (4.2 percent), property tax - 10.3 million manat (0.6 percent), land tax - 3.6 million manat (0.2 percent), tax on mineral resources - 10.4 million manat (0.6 percent), taxes on foreign economic activity - 48.3 million manat (2.8 percent).
Some 206.1 million manat (with a weight of 11.9 percent) from the budget were spent for social security and protection of the population in January, 2014, 34.2 million manat (2 percent) - for education, 11.2 million manat (0.6 percent) - health care, 43.3 million manat (2.5 percent) - maintenance of the prosecution, security, law enforcement, judicial bodies, 1253.3 million manat (72.6 percent) - investments in the economy.
Around 14.8 percent (255.6 million manat) of public expenditure were spent on payment of salaries, pensions and benefits.
