The Azerbaijan's metallurgical industry produced goods worth 399.6 million manat in 2013, including finished products -at 96.5 million manat, the 2013 government report presented to Azerbaijani Parliament said.
Some 141,100 tons of 61 percent iron concentrate was produced and exported at the Dashkasan Filizsaflashdirma" OJSC [Iron ore processing plant] in the area of ferrous metallurgy, the document said.
234.8 thousand tons of steel reinforcement was produced last year at the largest steel company in the Caucasus -Baku Steel Company LLC. Another major company - Azərboru JSC produced 60.8 thousand tons of pipes for common and oil operation in 2013. The produced products at the company products are exported mainly to Russia and Kazakhstan.
Furthermore, Azerbaijani President signed a decree on the establishment of the "Azerbaijan steel production complex" JSC last April.
The JSC performs design , construction and management of the complex for the production of steel in Ganja and Dashkasan cities which covers all stages - from the mining of iron ore to steel production , the application of new technologies in this field , modernization of material and technical base and its effective use, as well as and other works related to the development of the industry.
Dashkasan Filizsaflashdirma Open Joint Stock Company which shares are owned by the state, was included in the complex.
As for the non-ferrous metallurgy, some 54 thousand tons of primary aluminum was produced at the first commissioned corps of the aluminum plant belonging to Det.Al Alüminium LLC last year. The construction of the second corps of the enterprise, with the production capacity of 50,000 tons is considered for this year.
