Azerbaijan’s direct investments in Georgian economy increase over 60 percent in one year

The volume of Azerbaijan’s direct investments into the Georgian economy increased 61.02 percent in a year.

The volume of Azerbaijan's direct investments into the Georgian economy increased 61.02 percent in a year, a report of GruzStat (national statistical service of Georgia) published on March 11 said.

Around $95 million was sent from Azerbaijan to Georgia in 2014, while the volume of investments amounted to $59 million in 2012.

In total, some $914 million was invested in Georgia's economy. The specific weight of Azerbaijan for the volume of direct investments amounted to 10.4 percent during the reporting period.

Azerbaijan continues to maintain its position in the top five largest investors in Georgia's economy. Netherlands ranked first for the volume of direct investments in Georgia ($180 million). Luxemburg and China ranked second and third for this indicator with $145 million and $98 million respectively.

Additionally, Azerbaijan became a leader for the volume of direct investments in Georgia's economy ($72 million) as of the fourth quarter.
