Construction operation volume increases by one-third in Azerbaijan

Construction work totalling 933.5 million manat was conducted in Azerbaijan in January-February 2014. The volume of construction work increased 33 percent compared to the same period last year, according to the Azerbaijani State Statistical Committee.

Some 69.7 percent of the total volume of construction work accounted for primary construction, reconstruction and expansion, 16.2 percent was overhaul, 2.5 percent current repair and 11.6 percent other construction work.

Some 77.9 percent of the construction work was carried out by non-state construction companies

The total of personnel engaged in the construction sector for 2013 was 92,800. The nominal salary level in the construction sector amounted to 594.7 manat which is 10 percent more than in the same period of 2012.

The average salary in the state-owned companies amounted to 489.3 manat, a 17.7 percent increase per year and private companies - 645.7 manat, a 2.2 percent increase.

Salaries in the building construction industry increased by 6.8 percent which is an average of 562.5 manat, specialised construction up to 821.1 manat, a 5.8 percent growth and civil construction operations increased by 15.8 percent up to 417.2 manat.

The official exchange rate is 0.7843 AZN/USD on March 20.
