Azerbaijan's industrial output close to $10.5 bln

Total volume of industrial production (volume of produced goods and industrial services) amounted to 8.2 billion manat in Azerbaijan in the first quarter of 2014.

The figure is 2.4 percent less than the same period last year.

"The non-oil sector of Azerbaijan showed an increase of 6.8 percent in the reported period, and oil - fell by 3.6 percent compared with the same period of 2013," the report of the State Statistical Committee said.

High growth was observed in food production, clothing, construction materials, furniture and other industries in the non-oil sector in January-March, the report said.

During the reporting period, the production volume in the mining industry amounted to 5.9 billion manat with the specific weight of 71.8 percent in all of industrial production, which is 3.4 percent lower than in the first quarter last year.

Oil production volume amounted to 10.43 million tons and natural gas to 4.54 billion cubic meters in January-March 2014.

Oil production has decreased relatively to the same period in 2013 by 3.2 percent and gas production - grew by 4.2 percent.

The production volume of processing industry amounted to 1.7 billion manat in the first quarter with specific weight of 21 percent, which is 10.2 percent higher than in January-March of last year. Production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam rose by 1.6 percent, and water supply, purification and processing of waste increased by 17 percent compared to the first quarter of 2013.
