Azerbaijan’s consumer inflation continues outpacing monetary one

Consumer goods prices and tariffs for services rose in Azerbaijan in March 2014 by 0.3 percent as compared to February, Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee said on April 15.

At the same time the inflation rate stood at two percent as of first quarter of 2013, according to the committee.

In March, food prices rose by 3.2 percent, non-food products' prices increased by 1.6 percent, while prices for services went up by 0.4 percent.

As compared to the first quarter of 2013 the food prices in the country rose by 2.2 percent in three months of 2014, non-food prices went up by 1.8 percent and tariffs for services increased by 3.94 percent.

Consumer prices index (CPI) base, which is calculated with the deduction of goods and services exposed to seasonal changes (fruits and vegetables) and prices regulated by the state increased in March by 0.2 percent versus February, and by 1.5 percent versus the first quarter of 2013.
