Number of tourists reduces in Turkey

The number of tourists in Antalya decreased by 6.5 percent in the first quarter of 2014 compared to the same period of 2013, according to a report published on the website of the Turkish Mediterranean Tourism Association.

The total number of tourists was 548,829 people in the city of Antalya in the first quarter, according to the report.

The number of Iranian tourists who visited Antalya in the first quarter of this year amounted to 52,000, the number of tourists from Germany - 222,880, the number of tourists from Russia - 61,427 people, according to the report.

The remaining 212,522 people fall to other countries, according to the report.

Some 39.2 million tourists visited the country in 2013, according to the Turkish Institute of Statistics.

Turkey's income from tourism in 2013 increased by 11.4 percent, amounting to $32.32.424 billion.

Some 78.9 percent of the total revenues from the tourism sector were received from foreign tourists, 21.1 percent - from Turkish citizens living abroad but visiting it, according to the report.

Some $24.836.789 billion fell to the income from individual tourism, while 7.473.653 billion - income from group tourism in 2013, according to a report.
