Iran’s suitcase trade exports to CIS increase by 27 percent

Iran has exported $101.46 million worth of goods to the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) during the last Iranian calendar year (ended on March 20), which indicates an increase of 26.92 percent compared to the preceding year.

Iranian Custom Administration's latest report released on April 16 said the figure shares 0.32 percent of the total export value of the country during the period.

During the Iranian calendar year of 1391 (ended on March 21, 2013), the same trade was worth $79.94 million which was 0.25 percent of the total export value of the country during that period.

Bajgiran, Astara and Bilasuvar customs were the top three border points in terms of suitcase trade with $44 million, $18.8 million and $7.39 million respectively worth of exported goods during the last Iranian calendar year.

Iran's total non-oil exports to foreign countries stood at $31.332 billion in last Calendar year, while the country's total imports amounted to $50.818 billion.

The figures mark annual trade balance of -$19.486 billion for Iran.
